Garret is a Principal with Chiampou Travis Besaw & Kershner LLP, managing the delivery of tax services primarily to closely held companies and their individual owners, along with a group of cross border companies. His clients are primarily companies in the manufacturing and distribution industries.

He was previously associated with the Buffalo office of a International accounting firm achieving the level of Tax Managing Director responsible for the overall tax engagement management for a diverse group of companies. Serving clients in manufacturing, service industries, consumer and industrial products, construction and real estate ventures. He has instructed individual income tax courses at a local college.

His selected experiences include:

• Has focused on tax accounting ideas and their pass through effect to individual owners. Including tax inventory accounting issues, revenue deferral and expense acceleration planning.

• Handled tax services for a number of International and Canadian clients U.S. inbound operations including multi-state taxation issues.

• Developed filing positions to minimize state taxes for specific transactions.

• Deferred income tax analysis for financial statement preparation related to various corporate structures and ongoing disclosures.

• Represented clients in various tax jurisdictional examinations and issues.

• International reporting issues and outbound tax planning.

• Sarbanes-Oxley tax process reviews.

Garret's professional and community affiliations include memberships in the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants and American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He has served as treasurer for the Leukemia Society of Western New York and is involved with youth hockey organizations in the area.

Garret holds an MBA, Accounting Concentration from the State University of New York at Buffalo and a BS in Industrial Technology from the State University College of New York at Buffalo.
