Gene is a Partner with Chiampou Travis Besaw & Kershner and specializes in supervising audit, review, due diligence, tax services for closely-held corporations, business control system implementations, and creating cash flow projection models. His clients include businesses in the construction, retail, manufacturing, wholesale, service, and non-profit industries. Gene is also in charge of the firm's quality control system.
He was a founding Partner of Chiampou, Travis Besaw & Kershner. He also served as Internal Audit Manager for Goulds Pumps, Inc., a Fortune 1000 manufacturer, where he performed operational audits in a new systems environment. In addition, Gene was previously associated with a Big Five accounting firm with responsibility for managing larger SEC clients as well as a range of closely-held clients.
His selected experiences include:
Participation in a $20 million acquisition in Vienna, Austria on the due diligence team in which the purchase price was decreased by over $1.8 million as a direct result of adjustments noted in audit report.
Prepared cash flow models and valuation analysis to assist in negotiations of buy out of minority shareholders that resulted in a reduction in the stock repurchase price of $1.4 million.
Development of an inventory capitalization policy based on an internal study of corporate divisions for implementation in several businesses.
Responsible for royalty audit of a $1.2 billion public company licensee for client resulting in $300K of underpaid royalties for client.

Gene's professional and community affiliations include membership in the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants; Treasurer / Director of the Buffalo Renaissance Foundation; past Treasurer of the Board of Directors, Alumni Association of Elmira College and current Treasurer for the Amherst Police Foundation. In 1999, Gene received the National Volunteer Citation Award from the Arthritis Foundation - National Office in Atlanta for his local work with the charity.
Gene holds a BS in Accounting from Elmira College.
